THREE sisters led the way for Blakebrook Gym Club at the Southern Regional Open in Poole.

Debbie (gold), Caroline (silver) and Katy Allen-Trew (bronze) dominated the level one women's floor section to take the top three places.

This sealed a successful tournament for the club, which caters for people with learning difficulties, and had many of its students win medals and produce strong performances.

Claire Calvert was named the tournament's most improved gymnast and Blakebrook was named the most improved club.

"All our students did their best and many came away with medals, so I am pleased and proud of their achievements," said coach Fran McGrillion.

McGrillion and Claire Thatcher, who founded the club 18-years ago, received long service awards from the West Midlands Amateur Gymnastics association for their hard work and dedication.

Members of Wyre Forest Gymnastics School came close to medals at the West Midlands Recreational Floor and Vault Team Championships in Stoke-on-Trent.

Phoebe Heslop, Hannah Poole, Lucy Teeling, Bethany Hickman and Chloe Bate scored 61.4 points to finish fourth in the under-10s age section.

In the under-15s category Rebecca Hawkesford, Emma Trow, Rose Hooper, Emma Davies and Claire Donnelly finished in 17th place.
