IMPRESSIVE Bewdley got back to winning ways by seeing off Goodrich 2-0 in the West Midlands League Premier Division on Saturday.

Late goals for Chris Hough and Russell Godfrey ensured Bewdley ended a poor run of form and results.

Victory also saw the team rise two places to tenth in the table.

Bewdley controlled the game for the first 20 minutes, passing the ball round well and using the width of the pitch.

Hough's 25-yard shot fizzled over the crossbar in the 11th minute after some great link up play by strikers Richard Burgess and Lewis Pountney.

Town continued to be best side in the second half and Pountney nearly put Bewdley in the lead when a cheeky backheel just went wide of the upright, after neat link-up play by Burgess and Hough.

A minute later and Pountney forced a fine save from the home keeper.

It took 75 minutes for Bewdley to break down Goodrich's defence when Hough swapped passes with Pountney, powered past two defenders and nutmegged Goodrich's keeper.

Godfrey made sure Town secured the points when his 25-yard shot flew past the keeper for his first goal of the season.

Bewdley welcome mid-table Lye Town on Saturday to Ribbesford Meadows (3pm kick-off).
