TIGERISH Andy Ferrell has added some bite into Harriers' midfield but he admits that he is waiting for his beloved Newcastle United to get their teeth into some silverware.

Ferrell has been one of Harriers' most consistent players during the last two months, with a combination of tough tackling and accurate distribution providing a solid platform for the Aggborough side to build on.

But while he's hitting the headlines the 24-year-old admits his dream is for the fanatical Toon Army to witness their idols bag a trophy.

"People outside of the city don't understand but we eat, sleep and drink Newcastle, it's an obsession," said the midfielder.

"It's my dream to see them win some silverware. My dad has never seen them win anything so hopefully they can one day."

Despite the problems up in the North East, Ferrell is totally focused on helping Harriers get back into the play-off frame in the Blue Square Premier.

Harriers are eight points off fifth placed Cambridge and are at the stage where every point earned is valuable.

Ferrell is also hoping he and his team-mates can impress at home when they take on Farsley Celtic at Aggborough on Saturday.

The fans have not seen Harriers play at home on a Saturday since the loss to Oxford on November 24. They have also played eight of their last ten games away from home.

Ferrell said: "We have games coming up against Farsley and Droylsden in the next few weeks and they should be games we can win.

"They're both must win games and it doesn't matter how we get the points as long as we do.

"I love playing in front of a home crowd so it's great to be back at Aggborough this weekend.

"It feels like a long time since we last played at home and I am hoping we can get a win for the fans.

"A lot of them won't have been able to see us away and have missed our good performances against Forest Green and York, so hopefully we can show them what we are capable of.

"I have to give the away fans some credit. They have had a lot of travelling to do over the last few weeks but even when we went to Weymouth on Saturday there was at least 150 supporting us, which is great."

The former Hereford playmaker has also been happy with his own form.

He relishes his central midfield role shielding Harriers' defence in recent weeks.

Ferrell said: "I thought I started off slowly but I think since October I have been consistent.

"I have played on the left and in central midfield and whereever the manager wants me to play I don't mind.

"My preferred position is in central midfield, either in front of defence or alongside someone else.
"The manager has been using me like that recently and I think I am playing well."
