CYCLING: Ben Roach roared to victory in the National Cross Country series in Norfolk to record his first victory for Wyre Forest.

Roach is a part of the club's new junior development squad.

It has been set up after the club agreed a four-year sponsorship deal with SA Financial Planning.

It means that Wyre Forest can attract and help nurture some of the area's best riders.

Roach, who is a Welsh National Road Race Champion, is joined by West Midlands Cyclo-Cross Junior Champion Tom Payton, British Cycling Talent Team member Joshua Papworth, the club's very own Pete Banham and Jack Kirk.

In Norfolk, Roach was too hot to handle in the men's junior race and finished the course in Thetford Forest in one hour, 35 minutes and 32 seconds.

Wyre Forest was presented with the clubmark award in recognition of four years hard work, where it has a number of coaches encouraging school children to get into cycling.

Brian Austin produced a stunning performance to take a fine victory in the B category LVRC Enville road race on the tough Six Ashes Circuit on Sunday.

Riders had to contend with a tough course but Austin was in fine form and crossed the line for his first win of the season.

Joe Rowe rode superbly in the D category event and got in a seven-man break early on in the race and finished in third after a sprint to the line.

Paul Graham featured well early on and attacked several times but faded towards the end and retired before the finish.

Dave Prior, James Plant and Mick Gray lined up for Wyre Forest in the the Stratford CC 10 mile time trial at Salford Priors on Saturday.

The trio recorded season's best times, while junior rider Plant knocked six minutes off his previous best time to record 34-15.

Veteran Gray was fastest for Wyre Forest with 28-16, with Dave Prior only six seconds behind with 28-22.
