MARTIAL ARTS: Students from Kidderminster Tsunami Karate Club excelled at the Kimura Shukokai National Championships in Stourbridge.
A nine-strong team returned from the Black Country with an impressive six-medal haul.
Sensei Dave Powell set the tone for his students by tightening his grip on the veteran's kata section, winning the age group for the third year in the row.
Emily Powell won silver in the ladies black belt kata and bronze in the kumite group.
In the girls 13 to 15 year-old section Sophie Powell secured bronze, while Iain Sinnett won bronze in the cadet kata.
Ryan Gallagher fought well and just missed out on a medal, while Teresa Lye, Edward Mitchell and Tony Baker also took part and showed good spirit.
The club is also celebrating two new black belts in father and daughter Tony and Natasha Baker.
The duo passed their grading following a three-day course with eighth dan chief instructor Eddie Daniels.
