QUICKFIRE innings by Dave Cook and Craig Siwicki helped Stourport CC to a 10-wicket win over local rivals Cutnall Green in the Worcestershire Crusader League Division Three.

Cook smashed 75 runs off 43 balls and Siwicki hit a half century off just 27 to put Green to the sword.

Victory was enough to cement Stourport’s fifth place position in the table.

Stourport captain Phil Williams won the toss and decided to bowl and watched as Bevan Neill (4-28) and Andy Platt (3-38) bowled out Cutnall for 141 runs.

In reply the home team went for the jugular, with Cook and Siwicki guiding Stourport to 143-0 inside 11 overs.

Williams said: “We could see a big black cloud on the horizon so we knew that we had to wrap up the game as quickly as we possibly could.

“We decided to put our our to most attacking batsmen and they did a great job.

“We’re fifth at the moment and I would be happy to finish in the top five but ideally we would like to get into the top three because we believe there’s a chance that we could go up.”

Stourport’s second team found the going tough at Cutnall Green but still came away with a three-wicket win.

The hosts won the toss and decided to bat but were reduced to 103 all out in 47 overs.

Kevin Hughes was inspirational for Stourport and he took 5-32, while Tom Gloster chipped in with three wickets.

In reply Stourport’s batting was once again jittery and only opener Brian Colley showed any resillience with his 42.

However, the visitors weathered the storm and reached 104-7.

In Division Nine the third team were too strong for Feckenham and recorded a 99-run win.

The visitors won the toss and put Stourport into bat and the hosts were reduced to 9-3.

But Simon Downes (84 not out) and Dan Cope (71) shared a fifth-wicket partnership of 135 to ensure they ended their innings on 192-7.

In reply Feckenham struggled as Joe Hayes struck early with two wickets.

There was a steady fall of wickets, with Cope taking three catches behind the stumps and good bowling throughout as Feckenham were dismissed for 93.
