A Ruddy good show by Denise

BOWLS: Denise Ruddy won the Kidderminster and District League’s Tony Crisp Ladies Singles competition at St John’s on Sunday.
Ruddy, who plays for St George’s BWP, clinched the title by getting the better of Kate Burkes from Little Lakes 21-16.
She had previously beaten Irene Wood of Kinver in the semi-finals, while Burkes had seen off the challenge of last year’s winner Rose Bradley of Bewdley.
Elaine Jeffries, Dot Marsden (both from Little Lakes), Mo Millard (Kinver) and Sheila Harris (St Johns) were the other entrants.
This year's Badland Cup, which was forced off because of heavy rain will now take place on Sunday, August 10.

In Division One, Franche A dodged the downpours to record a 28-shot win over St John’s to close the gap on the leaders Bewdley A, whose game was postponed.
Royal Mail A’s win at home to Kinver A saw them return to the top of Division Two, while St John’s Tiger Turf move into third after a massive 58-shot win over Bewdley B.
Division Three saw leaders Franche B slip up at second placed Cookley A by 26-shots. Third placed Wolverley B suffered a defeat away at bottom side Stourport C. St John’s C slip into trouble after a loss at Oldington C.
Division Four saw only Kinver C recording a victory this week, beating Oldington E. This saw St Ambrose RO A slip to the foot of the table.
With both the top two not playing this week, Division Five remains the same, with Kinver D’s win over Nomads moving them closer to the top three. Cookley C were the other winners in the division.
