DRIVING ace Daniel Rowbottom recorded his highest finish yet in the SEAT Supra Cup when he finished fourth in round 11 at Snetterton on Sunday.

The 19-year-old, who comes from Mamble near Kidderminster, enjoyed his best performance yet in the championship with eighth and fourth placed finishes.

His success in the latest rounds means he has risen one place in the drivers' standings to sixth and enhanced his chances of earning the right to try out for the SEAT team competing in the British Touring Car Championships.

A top four finish in the championship this season will see him invited to a trial with SEAT and give him a chance to prove he is ready to compete at the higher level.

Rowbottom went into the latest rounds of the championship eager to impress after a five-week break from action and crashing out at Croft in June.

He had to cope with a new body shell on his car but showed little sign of being daunted by its new set-up as he surprised several of his competitors to power through the field and secure fourth place in round 11.

Despite skidding off in the 12th round, Rowbottom was able to bounce back and finish in eighth place in the 12th round.

“I thought I handled the new car pretty well, it’s a new shell and it was quite stiff but I think I did well with it,” he said.

“Overall it was a good weekend, I secured my highest finish yet and I feel that I am in a good position to do well for the rest of the season.

“It was always going to be a tough weekend for me because I was dealing with a new set-up in the car but I believe I was able to show what I am capable of.

“It’s up to me to make sure I am in a position to secure podium places and finish as high in the standings as I possibly can.”
