COOKLEY slipped to a disappointing seven-wicket defeat to Hagley at Lea Lane in Division 3 of the Crusader League.

Batting first, the hosts were dismissed for 142, Phil Dixon top-scoring with 36.

The visitors were pegged back in their run chase when they lost three wickets, but they held their nerve to knock off the runs and complete a resounding victory.

It was a different story for Cookley’s second string as they claimed a thrilling one-wicket victory on the road at Avoncroft.

After inserting the hosts, they were dismissed for 172 by the Lea Lane men, as Simon Anderson starred with 4-39.

Cookley started well in their run chase with skipper Mark Hadley (46) and Martin Williams (36) leading the charge, and despite losing wickets in the middle order, a last-wicket stand of 14 between Scott Rollings and Ryan Parker saw them home to victory with just nine balls to spare.

There was a much-needed win for Cookley’s Sunday first team as they pulled off a remarkable victory away at Springvale in the Border Sunday League Second Division.

The hosts were bowled out for 112, as Hadley (4-22) and Parker (3-16) ripped through the home side’s order. Steve Hawkes (55) starred with the bat as the Lea Lane side eased to victory by six wickets.

There was also success at home on Sunday for Cookley as the Sunday 2nd side finally picked up their first victory of the season against Pedmore in Border Sunday League Division Three.

Batting first, Cookley were dismissed for 141 as Simon Kirby (38), Dan Soley (38) and Steve Cook (34) all chipped in.

In reply, the Stourbridge side were bowled out for only 114 to complete a 27 run-victory for the hosts, as 13-year-old Alex Ray (4-20) and Soley (2- 25) did the damage.
