BEWDLEY RC enjoyed a host of victories across regattas in Ross-on-Wye and Gloucester over the weekend.
Five crews powered to victory as the club divided their boats to maximise the action.
The club had junior and veteran crews competing in Ross-on-Wye and the seniors in action on Gloucester on Sunday.
On Monday Bewdley regathered their forces to compete in Ross-on-Wye.
Single sculler, Philippa Chapel, came out on top of the Bewdley performances with two wins — one each in Gloucester and Ross — beating opponents from Avon County, Reading University and Worcester.
The senior four coxed eight crew, made up of Ben Prince, Mark Jinks, Sam Smith, Will Keen-Tomlinson, Luke McCoy, Andy Ray, Yuri Hamblett, Tim Walton and coxed by Beckie Perkins, won their event at Ross on the Monday, overcoming a very strong draw in the process.
They beat opposition from Ross and Bristol Ariel in the heats to make the final, where they defeated a boat from Trent RC.
The other Bewdley wins were taken by Ed Mol, John Fazakerley, Paul Warnett, Mick Edmonds and cox Lorna Pritchard in the Veterans E over-55s coxed fours category in Ross on the Sunday.
Laura Ray and Jenny Merchant won the women’s senior three coxless pair at Ross on the Monday.
Bewdley want the Wyre Forest community to vote for the club in order to generate some all-important funding.
They have signed up to Norwich Union’s Community Sports Fund, which sees the club vying with others from around the area for funding of up to £50,000.
Members of the public can vote for who they believe is the most deserving, with the club which proves the most popular emerging with a slice of the money.
