Shelsley aiming for rousing end

MOTORSPORT: The record breaking season at Shelsley Walsh draws to a conclusion this weekend with two one-day meetings.

On Saturday competitors will be battling it out in the Toyo Tires Midland Speed, Ginetta Owner's Club Speed, Westfield, Reliant Scimitar & Sabre Speed and the Triumph TR Revington Speed championships.

Stourport driver Jon Beard is taking a weekend off from his regular role in the Midland Hillclimb Rescue unit to compete in his hot hatch modern classic Peugeot 205 GTi on both days.

Shelsley Walsh watermill mastermind Martyn Herridge will be out in his locally built Bewley Suzuki single-seater.

Newly crowned Midland Hillclimb Champion Peter Cox from Abberley on the other side of the valley will be driving his regular mount, the classic Chevron B42 formerly known as 'Old Bendy' until Peter re-jigged the chassis.

Sunday will sess a rounds from the Richard Egger Insurance/HSA Speed, Morgan Sports Car Club 'Parc Ferme' Speed, TVR Car Club Speed and Austin Healey Club Speed championships held at Shelsley Walsh.

Practice starts at 9.30am on both days and the each event starts after lunch at 2pm.

Admission is £14 on both days and accompanied children under-16 get in free.
