idderminster’s Unique Fitness gym competed in the BPO Record Breakers tournament on Sunday in Wales.
Three of the powerlifters set new records at the event, with Rob Preston bench pressing 245 kilograms in the under-110kg weight class to set a new British standard.
Harry Whale bench pressed 180kg in the 125kg, 50 to 54-year-old section for a new British record. Dave clements deadlifted 182.5kg in the 65 to 69-year-old class to also set a new British record.
Also competing were Dave Foster (deadlifting 250kg), Mark Jenkins (155kg benchpress and 280kg deadlift) and Steve knight (215kg benchpress and 285kg deadlift). The seven have all qualified for the British Championships, which will be held in Bath next April.
