KIDDERMINSTER martial arts king James Winsper sent out a message that he is ready to step up a level after a convincing victory over Carl Mallinson on Saturday.

The 26-year-old knocked out his opponent at Weston-Super-Mare in an ISKA approved fight.

Such was the comfort of Winsper’s victory in the kick boxing bout that it generated a host of compliments from his fellow fighters and the evening’s promoter.

“I felt physically strong and utterly dominant,” commented Winsper.

“One punch can change everything in a full contact match, but even knowing that I felt relaxed.

“That’s two good performances in a row after my December knockout at the Town Hall, so I’m looking forward to a great year and another few knockouts to please the fans.”

Winsper out-boxed Bristol’s Mallinson in the first round, rocking him several times with short left hooks and powerful body shots, before connecting with a dynamite right halfway through the second round, which left his opponent slumped on his side on the canvas.

He gamely tried to beat the count but referee Mike Fowles called a halt immediately when he saw how wobbly the Spartans Gym contender looked.

The fighter is hoping to be involved in a knockout karate tournament, which is scheduled for the Glades Arena in April.

The event is being promoted by Winsper's brother, Matt, and would be under the umbrella of WSKA organisation.

Talks are on going with Birmingham’s Moses Bogle and Welsh martial artist Rob Taylor.

Winsper may also be fighting at the Town Hall in June but has yet to confirm an opponent.
