JUDO: Kate Walker added yet more silverware after reaching the final of the English Senior Open.
The Samurai Judo Club star defeated all-comers to make it down to the final two but had to settle for silver after being defeated.
She was given a lift after being named in Great Britain’s Olympics Preparation Squad.
Meanwhile, brother Tom Walker finished ninth at a tournament in Germany.
Kate’s first three contests resulted in a very quick series of wins and booked her into the quarter-finals, where she she defeated an opponent from London.
In the semi-final against a rival from Scotland, Walker took control from the start and powered into the final.
Despite being edged out in the final, she was given a lift after being named in Great Britain's Olympics Preparation Squad.
She will be training full time for three days a week, usually six hours a day on the mat, whilst she tries to juggle the third year of her university degree in pharmacy around her training.
Meanwhile, brother Tom was fighting in a very tough event in Germany with a massive 70 players in his weight category.
Walker started well with a maximum point win against an Austrian opponent and then a rolling throw gained him a second win against a Dutch player.
Unfortunately, he was impeded by a shoulder injury and struggled against a strong Japanese rival.
Despite the set back he was still in the reperchage for bronze but with his injury still hampering him, Walker lost to a Swedish fighter and finished ninth.
