MIDFIELDER Dean Bennett became the eighth member of the squad after agreeing a one-year deal at Harriers.

The 31-year-old has made more than 300 appearances in a Harrier shirt over various spells.

After helping the club into the Football League in 1999, he was a regular in League Two for the next five years before his eventual departure for Wrexham in 2004.

He also spent time with Chester but, after two loan spells back at Aggborough, the ex-West Bromwich Albion youth teamer finally made a permanent return last summer.

"I'd had a few phone calls this summer but it never crossed my mind to leave Harriers, it was just getting it sorted out," he said.

"I was gutted we didn't make it on the last day of the season last year but the gaffer is working just like he did last pre-season to put a good squad together.

"If we can get a good start then hopefully we can do well - nobody here is working to just make up the numbers."
