MIDLANDS comedian Jasper Carrott was guest of honour at Wharton Park’s charity fund-raising tournament.
Forty-four teams took part in the competition, while there was a host of other tournaments, including a beat the professional contest.
The day raised money for Clent’s Sunfield Special School and the Alzheimier’s Society.
Birmingham City fan Carrott has been a patron of Sunfield for almost ten years, and money raised through the charity day will help boost funds for the fit out and furnishing of the brand new educational centre which has recently been completed at the school.
Captain Dave Smart said: “It is a real pleasure to be able to help raise money for Sunfield in this way and I know that it is a charity which is close to Jasper’s heart.”
Ladies’ captain Bett Middis nominated the Alzheimer’s Society as her charity.
The tournament raised £4,800, which will be split between the two charities.
So far this year, Wharton Park has helped raise £7,000 for the good causes.
