TORTON race ace Alex Ashby came third in the latest round of the Fun Cup Endurance series in Anglesey.

Together with fellow drivers John Chambers and David Webb, Ashby made sure that the Tracktorque car came sixth overall and third in the petrol car class.

Starting third on the grid, Ashby started the six-hour long race and was knocked down to seventh at one stage.

He pushed hard trying to make up the lost places but spun at Rocket and dropped back to 13th place.

From there he made a brilliant recovery, ending up fifth overall and second in the petrol class at the end of the first hour.

Chambers was consistently fast and lifted the team into fourth, but they slipped to down the pecking order despite some tenacious driving by Webb.

In his second driving stint, Ashby recorded the fastest lap of the race as Tracktorque rose back to sixth place.

In the final section of the race, Webb recovered well after spinning off to secure sixth overall and third in their class.

Ashby has been invited to race with Thorney Motorsport in their Astra VXR in the Dunlop Maxx Sport Production Cup at Snetterton over the weekend of September 26 and 27.
