HEAD coach Bryan Smallman believes Kidderminster Carolians RFC will have to stand up to the physical test when then tackle Stafford in the Midlands Intermediate Cup on Saturday.

The Marlpool Lane outfit will be aiming to build on their fine 32-5 win over Old Coventrians in the Midlands Division Two South (West) and progress in the cup.

But Smallman expects a tough forward test from Stafford, who he knows well from his time coaching at Bridgnorth.

Stafford top the Midlands Division Two West (North) after winning their first two games convincingly.

The coach was buoyed by KCs' impressive home win at the weekend but believes his side are still improving.

He said: "It was a much better display but we've still got some work to do.

"We're going to come up against much tougher packs who are better at set pieces and that will be the real test.

"Our performance much-improved but we haven't transformed overnight and we've got to keep improving.

"I know Stafford from when we used to play them with Bridhgnorth and we'll be in for a tough physical encounter.

"Hopefully we'll be able to build on this result."

Fly-half Andy McLellan also played, after a knee injury sustained a week before turned out to be not as serious as first thought.

Scott Lovell is set to keep his place in the side at scrum half after playing well on Saturday for the injured Mark James.
