HUNDREDS of pupils from across the district were in action at the Wyre Forest secondary schools cross country championships.

Two hundred and 80 students from nine schools took on the course at Wyre Forest Visitors Centre.

Six races were held, with competitors taking on four kilometre and 3km courses.

Bewdley School and Sixth form emerged as the competition’s overall winners.

Meanwhile. students from Wyre Forest’s primary schools were also in action at St Anne’s School in Bewdley.

This time 400 pupils were out in force in the year five to six age sections.

For many of the 10 and 11 year olds this was their first inter school competitive cross country race and there was an excited crowd of teachers and parents there to cheer them on.

The six winners from the primary school section have progressed to the county tournament, set to be held on Top Barn in January.

Hagley Primary School were the overall winner, with St Anne’s second and Franche Primary second.

Both tournaments were organised by the Wyre Forest Schools Sports Partnership.
