MANAGER Steve Burr hailed his side's efforts this season as he counts the costs of injuries and suspension before tomorrow's Blue Square Bet Premier play-off showdown against Wrexham.

Harriers will be hoping to stretch their unbeaten run in the Blue Square Bet Premier to eight games and keep the pressure on the sides two occupying the final two play-off sports, Fleetwood and Wrexham.

However, they face a Dragons side who bounced back from a shock 7-2 loss at home to Gateshead with a win at pacesetters AFC Wimbleodon and means Dean Saunders side will be dangerous opponents.

Manager Steve Burr has seen his side overcome obstacle in their path and their draw at big-spending Darlington on Tuesday once again illustrated their play-off credentials.

Burr could be working with a limited squad as injuries and suspensions take their toll at the 'business end' of the season starts in the Football Conference.

With Lee Vaughan serving the second of his two-match ban after picking up his 10th yellow of the season, Tom Sharpe could continue at right-back.

Jack Byrne starts his four-match suspension after being sent off for a second straight red of the season at Darlington.

Michael Briscoe and captain Keith Briggs are alsp nursing injuries for Saturday's clash.

Burr was quick to praise the efforts of the players, who have continued to perform despite picking up knocks.

Briggs has played with a swollen ankle for the last two matches but scored a fine 25-yard effort against the Quakers.

Burr believes his captain has epitomised Harriers' indomitable attitude this campaign as they overcome the club's financial problems to chase the Football League dream.

He said: "Lee Vaughan's suspended for Saturday and it looks like we'll be without Jack Byrne as well.

"Michael Briscoe will need an X-ray on his ankle so he might be a doubt as well, but all these lads want to do is play.

"Michael was struggling at half-time but he didn't want to come off, he wanted to help the team.

"Keith Briggs is the same, he's got the heart of a lion and he's been playing with just one leg for the last two games.

"We've wanted to take him off because his ankle's so swollen but he wants to be involved and playing and he scored an absolute cracker against Darlington.

"It was a tough game but you have to expect that because they've got a big budget and have a good squad.

"It was disappointing not to win the game but considering we lost Jack late on we did well to hang on at the end."

Burr had been considering appealing Byrne's harsh dismissal for a challenge on Darlington's Gary Smith but decided against it.

It means he will miss a decisive period of the season, when Harriers take on promotion contenders Wrexham, AFC Wimbledon, Luton and Crawley.

However, he was disappointed with way Darlington's players and management reacted to the clash. Harriers' manager shared harsh words with opposite number Mark Cooper in their respective technical areas, while the home team reacted angrily to the tackle.

"We're disappointed to have Jack sent off and missing what could be four really big matches," commented Burr.

"What disappointed me was the way some of the Darlington players and the management reacted to the tackle and it definitely influenced the referee's decison."

Wrexham boss Saunders will have the experienced duo of Andy Morrell and Dean Keates available for selection after the duo missed the mid-week win at Wimbledon.

Former Harriers hitman Marc Williams, brother of Reds left-back Mike, has rarely featured from the start for Wrexham since his return to the club in December and is set to start on the bench.

Shuttle Online will have live match updates from tomorrow's Conference tussle (3pm kick-off).
