STOURPORT skiing star Ashley Breese savoured national success at the English Alpine Championships in Italy.

The 15-year-old was overall winner in the children’s age section after some excellent and consistent performances in Bormio.

The Stourport High School student demonstrated his prowess by winning the giant slalom, coming second in the slalom and fourth in the super-giant slalom to finish top of the rankings.

It’s the first time Ashley, who is in the Children’s British Ski team, has won gold at the tournament.

Mother Cheryl Breese said: “Ashley is over the moon. He’s taken podium places at the tournament before but this is the first time he’s won it overall.

“It’s his final time there in the children’s category and it was nice for him to go out on a high.”

"It was important was well because he moves up to the juniors section and wanted to catch the eye of the coaches."
