POWERLIFTING: Kidderminster’s Unique Fitness saw a six-strong team do well at the English Open and qualify for the British Championships.

Competing in Harlow, London, newcomer Robb Todd squated a new British record in the 110 kilogram class and also performed well in the 95kg bench press and 150kg deadlift to set a national standard total weight of 375kg.

Marcus Griffiths also qualified and won his class with a raw 175kg bench press, while Dave Mills cruised through his class with a squat of 230kg, bench of 185kg and deadlifted 250kg.

Andy Knight came first with lifts of 155kg squat, 135kg bench press and 180kg deadlift, while 68-year-old Dave Clements was on his normal form winning his class of 145kg squat, 100kg bench and 170kg deadlift and Steve Knight also qualified in first place.

They all now march onto the British championships at University of Bath in April.
