KIDDERMINSTER Golf Club professional Patrick Smith has been elected county captain for the second year running.

Smith joined the club in 1991, aged 13, and under the guidance of Nick Underwood soon progressed to single handicap, winning many trophies on the way including the junior and club championships.

He has represented Worcestershire at junior level over 30 times and was also part of the county team which won the league in 1998, which was the first time in over 20 years.

Smith has played in many amateur events and reached the last 16 in the English Amateur at St Mellion.

He became a professional in 2000 and became fully qualified in 2003, when he joined the Worcestershire PGA committee.

In 2010, he became the county captain, a role he continues in 2011. Smith said it is a honour to represent the county as captain.
