CYCLING: Several Wyre Forest riders made the most of the last warm and dry conditions of the summer to extend their racing programme into October.

On a tough undulating 25 miles time trial course, promoted by Gloucester City CC, Ian Connolly finished with an excellent time of one hour, four minutes and 52 seconds to claim 20th place.

He was followed by David Prior in 29th place with a time of 1-12-04. Race winner was Rob Pears of Bath CC in a time of 55-47.

At the same event, Dave Wood teamed up with his training partner Karl Davies of Stourbridge Velo to finish second in the tandem category with a time of 1-02-51.

At the Team Midland Racing promoted 10 miles time trial, Ron Clews recorded 24-04 to finish 13th from an entry of 63 riders.

In the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League, Emile Alexander continued to impress, following up his two sixth places and a fifth place finish at the previous rounds with fourth place from 52 finishers in the latest competition, which has moved him up to fifth place overall in the under-10s category.
