Stourport Swifts 2, Bridgewater Tn 0
Swifts stretched their unbeaten run to three games by taking maximum points from their Somerset visitors.
But it was the fact that the players could celebrate their first victory in nearly four months that raised the biggest smile around the Walshes Meadow faithful.
Back-to-back draws on the road have bolstered the confidence and that was in evidence as Swifts opened the scoring inside the opening minute.
Strike pair Lewis Pountney and Louis Bridges combined to send Julian Triana down the right and his cross was volleyed home by Tim Jackson.
Bolstered by their perfect start, the home side continued to dominate with Pountney causing all sorts of problems to the Bridgewater defence.
And he capped his man of the match display by netting the all-important second on the hour, reacting first to force the ball home after his initial effort had rattled the visitors’ crossbar.
With games against fellow strugglers Wimborne Town and Abingdon United to come before the end of the month, an extended run of form could see Swifts claw their way out of the drop zone.
