STOURPORT CC regained top spot in the Worcestershire County League Division Two after cruising to victory at Alverchurch and Hopwood.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Alvechurch got off to a steady start with skipper James Spavin surviving a close run out decision to make 103 and provide the backbone of the Alvechurch innings.

At 224-4, Alvechurch looked set for a huge total, but tight bowling from Steven Yarlsey (3-14) and Lee Waldron (2-25) at the death limited them to 246 all out in the 47th over.

In reply, Stourport made a solid start from openers Chris Parry (20) and Yarsley, after the departure of Parry Andrew Siwicki (38) shared a 94-run second-wicket partnership, before Yarsley went for an excellent 85.

Dan Platt (75 not out) then proceeded to blast the ball to all parts of the ground to see Stourport home.

The seconds made light work of an inexperienced Bromyard side to win by eight wickets.

Batting first, Bromyard struggled to deal with the control and pace of Adam Sellick as he returned 4-44 from 17 overs.

Will Downes picked up two wickets in the final as Bromyard were dismissed for 138.

In reply, 42 from Michael Pratt and an unbeaten 36 from Sam Hayes saw Stourport to home in the 25th over.

The thirds enjoyed a five-wicket victory against Kempsey.

A devastating spell from Gavin Bryan (6-22) helped dismiss Kempsey for 161.

At 81-5 Stourport were in trouble before Josh Harrison (14no) joined Craig Homer (63no) to see Stourport home.

The fourth team lost to Kempsey by 29 runs after a stunning all-round display from Jake Pinder (8-49) and 81 runs.
