Bumper Colts crew make trials

BADMINTON: Bewdley Colts had a bumper crop of juniors make it through to the county trials.
The club had 12 players out of the 90 taking part in the selection process in the under-11s, 13s, 15s and 17s age groups, which were held at Tudor Grange.
Coach Dave Barnett said: “We’re now just waiting to hear how we got on, with those successful due to receive letters inviting them into the new squads for this coming September.”
Bewdley Leisure Centre, where the Colts train, is currently looking at organising a selection of summer badminton activities during the second and fifth week of the school holidays, which follows on from last year’s highly successful event, which helped sign up a number of new young badminton recruits.
Anyone interested in the club or in taking part in a free taster session should contact Barnett on 01299 402238, or alternatively Bewdley Leisure Centre on 01299 402595.
Meanwhile, juniors received awards from the Worcestershire Badminton Association for their efforts.
Barnett added: “The players were over the moon to be presented with their trophies by the WBA and have been smiling ever since.”
