STOURPORT tennis players served up an ace performance when their Men’s B team swept all before them in the Hereford and Worcestershire County League.

The side contained a successful blend of youth and experience under the captaincy of Nick Mantle, which helped clinch promotion.

Regular pairings of Mantle and Matt Lashford, together with Richard Phillips, a recruit from Hartlebury with Ben Sortall, plus Graham Ashmore and Woody Burgess enabled Stourport to maintain a 100 per cent record with back-up from promising Darren Williams, evergreen David Read and club coach Gerard Tilt.

Stourport finished up eight points clear of closest rivals Manor Park from Malvern.

Results included a 7-0 win over Cutnall Green A, 6-1 against Ombersley A and a 5-2 triumph over Halesowen A. Further wins came against Droitwich C (6-1), Worcester C (6-1), Worcester D (5-2) and Manor Park E (5-2).
