HARRIERS boss Steve Burr hailed his side after they overwhelmed Hyde with a 4-0 win in Cheshire.

The Aggborough outfit were simply too strong for the Tigers as Anthony Malbon bagged a brace.

Marvin Johnson capped a fine display with a brilliant solo effort, while substitute Greg Pearson marked his debut as a substitute with a strike.

Victory was vital as play-off rivals Newport and Mansfield both won, so a 15th win of the season kept them in the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off spots.

"The most important thing was the three points," said manager Steve Burr.

"We said at half-time that the next goal was crucial.

"Hyde are a decent side and they play some good football.

"It was pleasing to see that we scored the second and went onto win quite convincingly."

While Harriers were excellent going forward, they were indebted to keeper Danny Lewis, who denied Phil Jevons from the spot with the away side leading just 1-0.

Burr felt the penalty, for the ball hitting Vaughan on the arm, was harsh.

Burr added: "Justice was done. How a penalty can be given when the lad is only a yard away.

"It was a great save by Danny and not just the save but the follow-up as well."
