CHAIRMAN Mark Serrell has called on the fans to flock to Kidderminster Harriers for Saturday’s mouth-watering FA Cup second round match against Newport County (3pm ko).

The club are braced for their biggest crowd of the season, with at least 1,000 Exiles supporters expected to descend on Aggborough to see Saturday’s hotly-anticipated clash.

The club has averaged attendances of over 2,000 this season but are hoping the most important match of the season will attract the Harriers faithful out in their droves.

With the travelling Welsh army set to make make their prescence felt, the chairman believes the only way to respond is in kind.

He said: “We’re getting indications that the number of Newport fans coming will be in four figures.

“They took nearly a thousand to Cheltenham so we can at least expect that.

“But this is the game for every fan of Kidderminster Harriers to attend.

“It’s going to be an absolute cracker, games between Newport and ourselves have been packed with goals and drama.

“I would love it if the three quarters of the stadium was reverberating to the sound of our fans singing their hearts out, they could give us the edge.”

A victory for Harriers over their League Two opponents would certainly help to mark the 20th anniversary of the club’s run to the fifth round during the 1993-94 campaign in style.

Harriers saw off Birmingham City and Preston North End before losing narrowly at home to Billy Bond’s West Ham United side.

Serrell added: “All I want for Christmas is a place for Kidderminster Harriers in the third round!

“We’ve had some huge games, the fans have backed us against Stockport and Wrexham and we’d love them to come out in force again.

“We’ve got a huge December coming up and this would be the perfect way to start it.”

l Harriers have named Robin Lamb as their new club secretary.
