KIDDERMINSTER Harriers boss Steve Burr believes the incredible atmosphere at Aggborough could play a huge factor in Saturday’s much-anticipated FA Cup second round clash against Newport County.

Harriers face a side who are flying high in Skybet League Two after winning the Conference Premier promotion play-offs last season.

The prize for the victors is a place in the third round and the chance they might play a Premier League giant.

The Welsh visitors are in good form and currently in a play-off spot but Kidderminster boast an impressive record against the Exiles.

Kidderminster have beaten County on the last four meetings, including two thrilling 3-2 home victories.

Nick Wright’s memorable last-gasp hat-trick during the 2011-12 season and Jamille Matt’s stunning treble last year saw Harriers win entertaining clashes.

Burr is certainly expecting a cup cracker at the weekend (3pm ko).

“This is a massive game for both teams because the prize for the winners is a chance to play one of the teams at the top,” said the manager.

“We wanted Sheffield United or Wolverhampton Wanderers this round but if we win on Saturday there’s a chance we could be playing the likes of Manchester United.

“Our record against Newport at home has been very good.

“Gary Whild and I have watched them a lot and they are stronger than last season.

“They’ve proved that teams from the Conference Premier can do well in the Football League.

“But the atmosphere at Aggborough for huge games is very special.

“The fans have been absolutely brilliant for us this season and they really rise to the occasion when needed.

“This is the FA Cup and with our incredible support and a bit of magic we can achieve our dreams.

“We’re all looking forward to it and we’re going to do our best to win.”

Burr guided Northwich Victoria to the third round where they played Premier League Sunderland in a dream clash.

Victory on Saturday would see the club earn £27,000 in prize money, while they will also make £6,750 from extended highlights of the game being down on ITV.

Burr added: “I am a football man and the game is the priority but if we can generate extra funds for the club it will make a difference.”

Burr will be hoping none of his players picked up an injury in last night’s Worcestershire Senior Cup clash at Redditch United.

Harriers were set to play an unfamilliar side to ensure he has a full strength squad for Saturday’s game.

Amari Morgan-Smith, Kyle Storer, Lee Fowler, Danny Jackman and Josh Gowling are all set to return after not featuring on last weekend’s FA Trophy 2-1 loss at Bradford Park Avenue.

Chey Dunkley is expected to shake off a knock and be fit for the cup tie.
