OUT going Kidderminster Harriers boss Steve Burr thanked the club’s fans for their support during his four years at Agborough.

The Carpetmen faithful were stunned by the news of this week’s exit.

Over his time at Harriers, the former Stalybridge boss had built up a special relationship with the supporters.

He is now one of the favourites for the vacancy at League Two Northampton Town, and his impressive record at Aggborough will see him coveted by many clubs.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone connected with Kidderminster Harriers because in my four years there I have thoroughly enjoyed it,” said Burr.

“I’m sorry to be leaving but there is a good group of players there and hopefully they can kick on and get the success that the club deserves.

“I’m especially grateful to the fans because they’ve been magnificent. I wish everybody all the best.”

Burr had been contracted to Harriers until 2016, making his departure even more of a surprise.

Meanwhile, the Carpetmen have suffered a set back as midfielder Callum Gittings will miss the next three weeks with hamstring and shoulder injuries, which he had been carrying for a month.

The squad re-shuffling at the club also continued, with Jamie Tolley released from his contract and Jamie Grimes sent on a month’s loan to Worcester City.

With Mickey Demetriou deputising impressively at centre-back, Grimes has been sent out to boost his confidence.

Gary Whild said: “Jamie needs games now, and looking at Mickey going in there and doing so well at centre-half has probably given us a few more options. It’s important for Jamie to keep his fitness levels up.”

Striker Ryan Rowe’s loan deal at Stourbridge comes to an end on January 14, but James Dance is at Rushall Olympic and Tyrone Williams has been sent to Redditch United.
