HARRIERS captain Kyle Storer has made an impassioned plea for the club to come together.

The skipper has called on a section of disgruntled fans to get behind the team and manager Andy Thorn.

A contingent of the crowd at Aggborough were unhappy with yesterday’s 2-2 draw, with new boss Thorn and the board singled out for abuse.

Some supporters’ frustration stems from just one Skrill Premier win a run which has seen them tumble out of the play-off places.

Thorn has only been at the helm for six weeks after replacing Steve Burr.

He said: “The game was edgy and it didn’t help with all the fans chanting.

“From my point of view if they don’t like what we’re doing, don’t bother turning up.

“It’s not helping the lads, it’s not helping in the dressing room.

“We’re 100 per cent behind the gaffer so it be great if everyone pulls together and get behind us.”

He added: “Support and abuse are two different things. If they want to support the team, support the team.

“It is not the majority of supporters it’s a minority and the boys would appreciate it if they could get behind us and support the team.”

Harriers rallied from 2-0 down against Braintree on Saturday as super-sub Amari Morgan-Smith bagged to goals in four minutes.

But it did little to take the pressure off Thorn, who is still trying to find a winning formula.

Against a Braintree side who had not played since January 11 because of heavy rain, Thorn handed a rare start to Anthony Malbon and fielded new signings Adrian Cieslewicz, Josh O’Keefe, Santiago Aloi and Freddie Ladapo.

But it wasn’t until Morgan-Smith was introduced that the home side had any cutting edge.

The draw leaves the Carpetmen six points off the top five. They entertain Woking on Tuesday (7.45pm ko).

“At 2-0 down it looked a long way back or for us but we showed great character as a team,” said Storer.

“Two great finishes from Amari got us back into it, it wasn’t exactly a great spectacle but we got a point on the board and we’ll go again Tuesday.”

Storer’s comments were before Mark Serrell revealed he was stepping down as chairman with immediate effect.
