GARY Whild hailed his Harriers players and the fans after Saturday's 0-0 draw at Wrexham yesterday.

The 289 strong travelling army of Kidderminster supporters welcomed the new boss with a rousing standing ovation before the game and chanted his name enthusiastically at the end of an entertaining encounter.

The players also responded with an eye-catching display and created a host of chances only to be thwarted by Dragons keeper Andy Coughlin.

Anthony Malbon, Lee Vaughan and Amari Morgan-Smith all saw good efforts saved.

"To keep a clean sheet and leave with a result was fantastic and the boys deserve a lot of credit," said Kidderminster's new boss.

"I thought in the second half we got ourselves into some great positions.

"There was good approach play and movement.

"We looked good on the eye as well and on another day we deserved a goal.

"If you go away from home in this league and manage to keep a clean sheet no matter where you play you've got to be happy with that."

Whild spent three and a half season as assistant boss under Steve Burr and replaced Andy Thorn on Wednesday, much to the happiness of many Harriers supporters.

Whild added: "The fans were fantastic and more so for the lads.

"I think I said in the week about the number congratulatory texts and calls I received.

"The supporters have always been like that since I've been at the club and Wrexham was no different, obviously it was a bit different  in terms it was much more directed at myself.

"I think the lads felt that even more and that's important. Let's get behind everybody and push on because they are a talented bunch of lads."

The Aggborough outfit are tenth in the Skrill Premier, six points off the play-off spots but they do have two games in hand.

Harriers return to action at home to Macclesfield on Tuesday night (7.45pm ko).
