GARY Whild says he’s hard at work trying to secure members of the squad for the 2014-15 season.

The Kidderminster Harriers boss has not rested on his laurels since agreeing to continue as manager this week and has already opened talks with players.

The Reds already have Kyle Storer, Michael Gash, Danny Lewis, Josh Gowling, Josh O’Keefe, Anthony Malbon and Freddie Ladapo for next season.

But the likes of Callum Gittings, Chey Dunkley, Lee Vaughan and Mickey Demetriou and others are out of contract.

Whild said: “It’s a busy time and hopefully we’ll have some news on players very soon.

“We’re lucky that with the likes of Josh, Michael, Danny and Kyle you’ve got a strong spine which will also help attract players.

“I’ve spoken to Ken [Rae] about the budget and it allows us to do something.

“As a manager you would always want more money but the financial security of the club is the most important thing.”

Harriers are also in talks about retaining Whild’s backroom staff of Tim Flowers and Mark Creighton.

They end the season at Halifax Town tomorrow (5.30pm ko), a team who have secured the play-offs in their first season back in the Skrill Premier.

Whild added: “Halifax have had a fantastic season. To make the play-offs is an achievement and it would be a fairy tale if they were to reach the Football League.

“But we want to end the season with a win and give something back to the fans, who have been incredibly supportive since I took over.”

Michael Gash (hamstring), Gowling (pelvis) and Danny Jackman (ankle) are doubts.
