HARRIERS are set to discuss a fee with Rushall Olympic for new signing Ahmed Obeng.

The wideman, 22, joined the Aggborough outfit on a one-year this afternoon.

Obeng scored 17 goals for the Pics as they strove for a play-off place in the Evo-Stick Northern League Premier.

The Ghana-born pace ace can also play on both flanks.

Harriers boss Gary Whild revealed Obeng had also spoken to friend Jamille Matt, who joined Kidderminster from Sutton, before putting pen to paper.

Matt’s goal-scoring efforts and power earned him a big money move to Football League club Fleetwood Town.

“He’s a lovely lad and you can see that in how he conducts himself,” said Whild.

“He’s a decent player as well and is another who has the potential to, firstly, be here full-time and also to hopefully improve with that.

“His heart is set on having an opportunity here and he knows all about the club and what’s happened here with the likes of Jamille Matt and I am sure he will be aspiring to follow in his footsteps.

“He’s a different type of player to Jamma but he is somebody who has a good head on his shoulders and he’ll take things on board and learn quickly.

“He has plenty of pace and that’s an asset whatever level you’re at and he’s technically good too."

Obeng, who has scored 40 goals in two seasons, said: ““I have been waiting for this day since I started playing football.

“I’m really excited about getting the opportunity because I have actually dreamt about playing full-time football; it’s something I’ve wanted since the day I first kicked a ball.

“I knew I’d be happy if I could just get this opportunity so today I have just been smiling all the way here.”
