GARY Whild is hoping midfielder Aman Verma will follow winger Marvin Johnson by committing to Kidderminster Harriers for the 2014-15 season.

Johnson, 23, put pen to paper on a one-year deal this week to end speculation over his future.

It marks a turn around in the fortunes for the gifted but inconsistent wideman.

His Kidderminster career had looked in jeopardy when he requested a loan move last season but after positive talks between Whild and the winger, he has returned.

Verma has been offered a deal after impressing Whild during a brief spell at the club last season.

Whild said: “Hopefully Marvin and Aman will have signed by the end of the week.

“People have been talking about Marvin’s potential but at some point he has to start realising it.”

The pair’s signing would be a boost after left-back Mickey Demetriou turned down an offer from the club to join SkyBet League 2 outfit Shrewsbury.

Demetriou joined Harriers from Eastbourne in 2011 and made 122 appearances.

With right-back Lee Vaughan having departed for Cheltenham, Whild has to find players in the wide defensive positions.

Tyrone Williams is an option for the Harriers boss.

He said: “Best of luck to Mickey, he’s done exceptionally well for us and deserves his chance to play in the Football League. I think he and Lee would be the first to say that playing for Harriers gave them a chance to shine.

“As a club we do look at players from lower down and give them a chance and it may be something we do now.”

Harriers captured Rushall winger Ahmed Obeng last week on a one-year deal.

The 22-year-old had scored 17 goals in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier.

l The club also confirmed that Amari Morgan-Smith and Danny Jackman won’t return.
