MARK Creighton was pleased with the hard work of Kidderminster Harriers' players as they stepped up their preparations in pre-season games.

After a team packed with trialists were edged out 2-0 by Littleton on Saturday, the senior squad kicked-off their friendlies campaign with a 1-1 draw at Solihull Moors on Tuesday night.

New addition Craig Reid opened his account for the Aggborough outfit to cancel out the opener from former Reds hitman Darryl Knights.

While almost all the first team squad got a run out, there was a number of hopefuls on show at Damson Park, including former Hinckley defender David Kalonji, released Birmingham City academy forward Reece Hales and ex-Kidderminster midfielder David McDermott.

Creighton said: "Saturday we had a look at a lot of trialists. We had Tyrone Williams play because we were a bit short of a centre back and Freddie Ladapo request to play.

"I was pleased with the effort on Tuesday night. We already had had a spinning class only three hours before kick-off so it was a good work out for all the lads and we got what we wanted in terms of fitness.

"David did play but Gary Whild and I are doing him a favour and allowing him to get some fitness before he looks for a new club."

Harriers go to Stratford on Saturday (3pm ko) and then pay a visit to Stourbridge on Tuesday (7.45pm ko).
