GARY Whild is confident his strikers will start firing as Kidderminster Harriers head into two tricky away games in the Vanarama Conference, writes Peter McKinney.

The Aggborough outfit go to high-flying Woking on Saturday (3pm ko) followed on Tuesday night with a clash at Wrexham (7.45pm ko).

Harriers will be eager to bounce back after their 1-0 loss to Grimsby and Whild is also keen for his hitmen to start hitting the back of the net.

Apart from last week’s 4-0 win over Altrincham, Harriers have struggled for goals in the last four games, with forwards Craig Reid, Michael Gash, Nathan Blissett and Reece Styche scoring just five goals between them.

Centre-back Chey Dunkley tops the Reds’ scoring charts with three, while winger Marvin Johnson has bagged two.

Whild said: “We knew an area we had to strengthen in the summer was the forwards so we brought in Craig and Reece.

“Both didn’t play much last season so they are only now finding their full match sharpness.

“Reece started on Saturday and he looked sharp so you can see it’s only now they are really getting there.

“We’ve also got Nathan Blissett who is also very effective and is a real handful for defenders. I am confident all of our strikers will score goals this season.”

Harriers’ manager expects to have a full strength squad, with Jared Hodgkiss successfully coming through Saturday’s game unscathed.

“We’ve got two difficult games coming up but we always feel capable of beating any team,” added Whild.

“Woking have had a very good start to the season so we will be expecting a tough game.

“But we’ve been working hard in training, trying to maintain the level of performance from Saturday. We might have lost but that was our best overall display of the season.

“Overall I think we are probably three points short of where I thought we should be but I have been pleased with the start.”
