CHAIRMAN Ken Rae hopes Kidderminster Harriers’ financial woes have been eased after wealthy husband and wife duo Kath and Ernie Lane pledged to back the club for the ‘foreseeable future’.

Rae confirmed talks between the board and former directors have been positive and believes the news will end speculation about the club’s cashflow worries.

This week’s events are a remarkable turn around in the relationship between the Aggborough outfit and the Lanes.

Harriers had originally taken legal action against them in the summer over funds the club claimed they were owed.

The Shuttle revealed three weeks ago that they ended their plans to sue them after a dialogue had been opened.

The benefactors paid the wages for September and are expected to do the same this month.

Rae said: “We’ve had several talks with Kath and Ernie and we’ve buried the hatchet, not that there was a hatchet to be buried.

“They will continue to support the club financially for the foreseeable future.”

The chairman also confirmed the board and main shareholders Barry Norgorve, Neil Savery and Jane Murrant, who own 52 per cent of the shares, turned down an offer from businessman Stephen Cleeve several weeks ago.

The trio will have the deciding say on any proposed takeover of Kidderminster.

Cleeve, who was banned for eight years as a company director, had previously been linked with a move for Wrexham in 2011.

Meanwhile, manager Gary Whild feels his side must find the goals to match their performances after a week of mixed fortunes.

The Reds recorded an impressive 3-2 victory at Woking in the Vanarama Conference at the weekend but then slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Wrexham on Tuesday night.

Ninth-placed Harriers will be aiming to bounce back when they entertain derby rivals AFC Telford United on Saturday (3pm ko).

That’s followed up on Wednesday night, when they tackle Welling at home (7.30pm ko) in a game televised on BT Sport.

He said: “Wrexham and Woking are all good sides and I thought we played well in all those games.

“We’ve got a very tough game coming up against a side who are at the wrong end of the table.”
