GARY Whild lamented Harriers’ Jekyll and Hyde display after they slumped a 2-0 defeat at Halifax.

The Aggborough outfit paid the price for another poor first half as Louis Maynard and Richard Peniket hit the back of the net.

Harriers improved and went onto dominate the second half but apart from Chey Dunkley’s header which struck the post, they failed to really open up a well-drilled side.

It is the second week in a row that Kidderminster have suffered from a poor opening 45 minutes. Last week against Barnet they pulled off a memorable fight back but Halifax proved to be a much tougher nut to crack.

Whild said: “We got away with it last week when we gave a team a three goal lead but we didn’t learn from that.

“Everything Halifax did the players had been warned about and with the record they have at home I am disappointed it takes until half-time to improve.

“You trust the lads you put out there to do the job and they are certainly enough because of the results this season against good sides.

“The consistency is missing. You’ve got to look at Jared Hodgkiss, he puts in seven or eight performances every week, works hard in training and maybe one or two ought to look at him and do something similar.

“Halifax made the play-offs last year and will be there or thereabouts this year as well.

“They are consistent, there are no frills about them, they scrap for every ball and I thought that was lacking in us in the first half and that was disappointing.”

Harriers were without player/coach and captain Josh Gowling because of injury and club skipper Kyle Storer because of a one match suspension.

Michael Gash was made captain but Harriers were second best in a flat first 45 minutes.

Whild added: “In the second half we were a lot better and probably could have scored to make it difficult for them. Overall, Halifax’s first half performance was enough them to win the game.”
