GARY Whild hailed the support of the fans are yesterday's 1-1 draw at Bristol Rovers.

An 287 strong travelling contingent cheered on Harriers as they more than matched the Gas, who had boasted an unbeaten home record in the Vanarama Conference.

Nathan Blissett headed the Reds into a deserved lead only for substitute Matty Taylor to earn a point for the hosts.

It was Kidderminster's first game since Thursday's fans forum, where Whild gave a frank account of the difficulties managing the club during their financial problems.

The forum convinced a small set of fans who had become frustrated by Harriers' inconsistent performances.

"I thought the support was fantastic," praised Whild.

"The lads did the supporters proud and vice versa, it was just a pity we couldn't hang on and give them three points.

"With a big home crowd you expect Rovers to come firing out of the traps but I think we did well to hold them off and grew into the game.

"We deserved our goal and it was just a shame we didn't see it through."

Meanwhile, left back Kevin Nicholson has signed a contract with Harriers.

The 34-year-old, who has made 20 appearances and scored one goal so far for Harriers, joined the club on non-contract terms in the summer but has now signed until the end of the season.

“He’s building a good relationship with the club and the fans and fortunately we’ve been able to reward him for his loyalty,” commented Whild.

“We are grateful to get him for very little and it’s fantastic that he wants to commit himself to try and help the club at a difficult time after a long career in the game.”
