ASSISTANT manager Mark Creighton felt Harriers’ players saw their efforts rewarded after yesterday’s 3-2 win at Forest Green Rovers.

Kidderminster had been trailing twice to strikes by former star Lee Hughes and Oliver Norwood.

But they exploited lacklustre defending to level twice thanks to goals by Aman Verma and Jack Byrne.

Verma, who also had an effort ruled out for offside, then smashed home a dramatic winner as the Aggborough outfit made it three wins in a row in the Vanarama Conference.

“It was maximum effort from our boys, which is what we asked for,” said Creighton.

“They stuck to their task and the only disappointing thing was the goals we conceded but given the fact we have lost Josh Gowling we have done alright.

“The lads did their jobs and we always felt the game was there for the taking.”

Rookie central defender Jordan Tunnicliffe made a solid debut in the absence of the injured Josh Gowling, while Jamie Grimes was also impressive against the experienced strike partnership of Hughes and Jon Parkin.

Creighton commented: “I did a bit of work with Jamie Grimes and Jordan Tunnicliffe about how to play against very good players like Lee Hughes and Jon Parkin.

“They are exceptional players who have played at the top of the game for a long time, I thought Jamie and Jordan did very well.

“Considering Jordan has been throw in there at the last minute he has been fantastic.”

Victory lifted Kidderminster to sixth in the table, only kept out of the play-off spots on goal difference.

Their next game is at Aggborough on Sunday against Southport (3pm ko), who are fifth from bottom.

Ground sharing neighbours Worcester City saw their clash against Hednesford at Kidderminster’s home called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

“They are all tough games at this level but we know Gary Brabin will set his team up to be tough and hard to beat,” added Creighton.

“They are coming to our back garden and we’ll be taking the game to them.”
