HARRIERS have cancelled the contract of striker Michael Gash by mutual consent.

The hitman has been on loan at Nuneaton since November, where he has scored one goal in 11 appearances.

Gash was sent out on loan as manager Gary Whild admitted the cash-strapped outfit could not afford his wages as one of the club's highest paid players.

The management team were also critical of the player at a fans' forum in November, where they felt he had not pulled his weight in training.

But fans will be sad to see the former Ebbsfleet and York hitman depart.

The 28-year-old was signed from Cambridge during the 2012-13 season on loan and made his move permanent in the summer of 2013.

He scored 24 goals in 70 appearances for the club, including three goals in 16 games this season.

Gash had a habit of scoring in Harriers' most important games. Hitting the target in the first play-off game at Wrexham, despite Kidderminster losing 5-2 on aggregate.

Most memorably he bagged their first goal in the FA Cup win over Peterborough United, as they pulled off a shock in the Third Round replay.

Top scorer with 15 goals last season, Gash struggled to get into the side, with Craig Reid and Nathan Blissett the preferred strike force at the start of the season.

He scored three goals for Kidderminster before going on loan to Nuneaton.
