TIM Flowers has been appointed new Harriers’ Head Coach in a major overhaul of the club’s first team staff following a poor start to the season.

Bosses today (Friday, September 11) confirmed a restructure of the management team which sees manager Gary Whild move upstairs in a Head of Football Operations role and assistant manager Mark Creighton leave Aggborough.

In a statement, the board and directors said they had held “positive” meetings with the management team throughout the week and, following a run of eight games without a win, decided a reorganisation was required.

Flowers will cover work on the training ground throughout the week as well as team selection and management.

Whild will retain an extensive involvement in first-team affairs both during the week and on match days, working closely with Flowers and the team, as well as taking charge of other aspects within the club, including player recruitment and scouting.

The club said Creighton’s departure had been agreed by mutual consent.

Chairman, Rod Brown said: “We’ve worked incredibly hard this week to find the best way to get the most out of what we have here, and how we can best allow those who are here to do their job to the best of their ability.

“For me, Gary retaining a substantial interest in team affairs was of absolute paramount importance.

“You only have to spend a short time with him to learn about his knowledge of the game and it was crucial this wasn’t lost – but I think the change to his role will also energise and excite him.

“Tim has an unquestionable reputation within the game and his experience is second to none, and I know all of the players respect that and enjoy learning from him.

“This is a great opportunity for Tim and a chance for us to see how things unfold.”

He added: “We felt that this was the best decision for us at this time but, perhaps more importantly, the best one for Mark as well.

“He has worked incredibly hard here but it’s going to be good for him to find other opportunities within the game and he’ll go and do that with our very best wishes.”

Mr Brown also confirmed that former Coventry manager Steven Pressley would not be joining the club in an advisory capacity.

He said: “We were explicit in what we said in the summer when we talked about how difficult this season was going to be and with the restraints we were working under.

“What’s important now is for everyone at the club and for all of our supporters to solidify and get together in their backing of Tim, Gary and the team for the future of the club.”
