AFTER a testing week, Gary Whild has been cheered by the return to action of centre back Kelvin Langmead.

The defender returned from a seven game injury absence to play a key role as Harriers drew 1-1 at fellow strugglers Halifax yesterday.

Kidderminster looked a much more solid prospect with the uncompromising defender at the heart of their back four.

He was not quite able to inspire a wine despite Gurjit Singh firing them ahead in the 11th minute.

CJ Hamilton levelled for Halifax in the second half and the game finished in a frenetic end-to-end fashion.

Joe Clarke could have won it for Kiddy at the death but instead of shooting teed up defender Andrew Fox instead, who fired wide.

Whild said: "I thought he was absolutely outstanding and was everything we've missed, as we've talked about on many occasions.

"He's not sat too far away from me as I'm speaking so I don't want to embarrass him too much, but if we'd have had him in previous games and in certain situations then the goals against column would have been reduced."

Despite the draw, Kidderminster remain bottom of the Vanarama National League and Tuesday's home clash against Torquay becomes even more significant.

Whild, who is now head of football operations, said: "I thought we played very well in the first half and scored a very good goal.

"It was a very good ball in from Reece Styche and a great header from Gurjit Singh and it's good to see him in the goals.

"At the moment, roles and titles are the last thing on our minds. We just know as a club that being together is important and that's what is going to get ourselves out of the situation we find ourselves in."
