DAVE Hockaday called for his players to be brave after watching Harriers lose 2-1 at Macclesfield.

The new head coach took the reins for his first game in charge after taking the role on Friday evening.

He watched the Reds produce one of their poorest displays of the season in the first half as Tony Diagne and Danny Rowe punished non-existent defending from corners.

Hockaday's half-time team talk made the difference as Kiddy improved a lot and Jordan Murphy marked his team with a 78th minute goal.

"It was a game of two halves, the first was no way good enough", said Harriers' head coach.

"But for all of their dominance, Macclesfield only scored from two set pieces.

"That is not good enough and it cannot happen again.

"In the second half we changed the shape but more importantly I changed the attitude.

"We were more aggressive with our starting positions, we passed more with of a purpose and scored the first goal in the second half and Macclesfield were reeling.

"On another day, with better finishing and better decision making around the box we could certainly have got something from the game.

"When you are 2-0 down it is easy to be brave, I need players to be brave when it is 0-0."

He added: "I need leaders, I need warriors, I need winners."
