BRIAN Smikle says Saturday's much-anticipated FA Cup fourth qualifying round clash between Stourbridge and Kidderminster Harriers brings back memories.

Affectionately known as 'Junior', the wideman is currently part of a vastly experienced Stourbridge side aiming to knockout their neighbours from the Vanarama Conference.

He's not the only current Glassboys player to have previously graced the Aggborough pitch for Kiddy, with Justin Richards and Nathan Hayward also having played for them.

Smikle was a cult popular figure with Harriers fans. The former West Bromwich Albion trainee was snapped up in 2006 by Mark Yates and made over 140 appearances.

His most prolific season came in the 2009-10 campaign when he scored 12 goals.

Smikle followed Yates to Cheltenham and has an excellent pedigree in the FA Cup for both sides, having played against Coventry City, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton.

Now playing part-time, the 30-year-old's enthusiasm and attitude remain, despite playing at left-back this season.

He said: "People keep saying to me that we're slight favourites but I think it's going to be very close.

"I have been here for two years and am really enjoying it.

"We are going really well and it is a very experienced side.

"Last year the team was quite young and we tailed off after a good start but this time the players are a bit older and we're going well."

Smikle is concerned that Kiddy's struggles on the pitch end soon, although not before Saturday's clash at the War Memorial Ground.

He added: "Kidderminster Harriers are a club very close to my heart, they got me back into football and kick-started career and for that I am very grateful.

"The fans were some of the best I have ever played for and I am looking forward to see some familiar faces."
