CHAIRMAN Rod Brown defended Kidderminster Harriers’ decision to sack head coach Dave Hockaday.

The former Forest Green Rovers boss left today after a six-game losing streak, which left Kidderminster bottom of the Vanarama National League.

“It’s not something that has been taken lightly by either party and it has probably materialised over the last six or seven games,” sad Brown.

“We had great intent when we made the appointment and there is a frustration between both parties which has resulted in this decision being taken.

“After the Stourbridge game in the FA Trophy a lot of frustration was expressed on the head coach’s side and in the six games thereafter, we feel we haven’t progressed the way we thought we would.

“There’s no hiding from the fact that we’re bottom of the league and we are trying to gain as many points as we can in order to stay in the National League.

“The frustration on both sides was that we weren’t getting where we want to be.

“We still want to have a right go and we felt that in order to do that, we needed to make that change.

“It’s not a nice decision to make at any time, but I think it’s the right one for the football club moving forward.”
