Welling 1, Harriers 2

TWO goals in three minutes ensured that Harriers lived to fight another day and delayed their relegation from the Vanarama National League with a stirring win at their bottom four rivals.

The Aggborough outfit seemed destined for the drop when they trailed to Daniel Kadell's early strike.

But Kelvin Langmead and James McQuilkin scored in the 82nd and 85th minutes to seal a fine fight back.

With Torquay, Halifax and Guiseley all losing, Harriers ensured some slim hope of survival remains.

Harriers made three changes to the side which drew at home with Altrincham.

Zaine Francis-Angol and Gurjit were handed rare starts, while McQuilkin was also drafted into the side.

With both sides playing for the survival and facing the prospect of relegation if results did not go their way, there was little expectation around the ground.

But the hosts made a proactive start and were rewarded in the sixth minute when Kadell took advantage of Kidderminster's inability to clear their lines and poked home from close range.

Harriers were lucky not to fall 2-0 down in the 13th minute when an unmarked Kevin Lokko headed over the bar from a Barney Williams corner.

Welling winger Nortei Nortey should have done better when he drove in from the left but fired wide.

Harriers worked their way into the game but their lack of cutting edge in the final third remained.

Ben Whitfield headed wide in the 27th minute from a Lewis Kinsella left wing cross.

The on-loan Bournemouth man was posing a threat on his own and fired a long range shot off target.

The closest the away side came to score in the first half came in the 37th minute when keeper Marek Rodak dropped McQuilkin's fine lobbed effort but the ball rolled wide.

Harriers made a bright start to the second half when McQuilkin threaded Whitfield into the box but his shot from a tight angle was saved by Rodak.

The away team plugged away and press back Welling but despite winning a series of corners.

But for long periods of the second half, Kidderminster failed to threaten Welling's goal.

Substitute Omari Patrick replaced the lacklustre Singh in the 72nd minute in the hope the pacy youngster could inject some threat into the visitor's blunt attack.

He made a fine impact as his stinging effort could only parried by Rodak and Kelvin Langmead stooped to head home a leveller in the 82nd minute.

Harriers turned the game on its head in the 85th minute when McQuilkin slotted home after being teed up by Whitfield.

Harriers fans cheered in relief at the final whistle as they loved to fight another day.
